Blog Post #6

I'm not sure if there is any prompts for this one so I'm just going to give updates. So it turns out that the EP has been narrowed down to 3 songs. We weren't able to finish up with recording the full EP. I'm still very stressed out about the project overall. Although we do have the lyrics for the songs, so we're probably going to include those in the presentation. We're done with recording Ain't It Fun, I believe that Gwen just has to put the song together and then we'll be down with that song. I think that sums up all the updates.

I referred to Gwen's latest blog posts and I noticed that there are questions to be answered. Here are the following questions:

What do you need to do before your presentation?
We need to try to finish recording.  We were planning on including a music video but we weren't able to finish up recording in time in order to record the music video. Since that is the case, we are probably just going to include what songs that were written.

What are you nervous about for your presentation?
I'm nervous about presenting. I don't like being in front of the class having to have all eyes on me. I also don't like having to look people in the eye so that's going to be difficult.  It's not my strong suit but I'm planning to do the best that I can.

What has been your favorite part about the Genius Project so far? Why?
I think my favorite part about the Genius Project so far was doing the photo shoot with the band. It was a lot of fun doing the photos with the band. I liked the location that we were in as well as the fact that we were able to eat ice cream in some of the photos. I really liked how the photos turned out, they all look amazing. So kudos to Gwen's mom. The reason why I found it to be so fun is because this was my second time taking a professional photo shoot and I just think the whole process is super interesting and I just really like photography.

Talk about the process of writing a blog. Has it been helpful in reflecting about your progress in your project? Why or why not?
I think it has been helpful for me. It helps me reevaluate what I have accomplished and what I have to get done. For me personally I found it to be therapeutic because I find writing to be very fun.

Blog Post #5

Hello again, so I'm going to be giving updates on our progress. As of right now, we are so behind on recording and it's stressing me out so much. It's very time consuming and is taking much more time than we expected. We are also supposed to be recording a music video and we're unsure if anyone can go, and if even if people do go, were not sure it's going to be enough people. We did a photo shoot this weekend thanks to Gwen's mom, who is a professional photographer. So I'm going to insert some of the pictures that she took here:

As for the prompts for this blog post:

How are you doing with your genius project?
I'm so stressed out about it overall. Recording is taking so long and with the time that we have right now, I'm not really sure what were going to do.

Is there anything that you are very proud of since you last wrote an entry? Anything frustrating?
I am proud of us for striving to be successful in trying to get things done. As you already probably know, from what I've stated, recording is so frustrating, because it's taking so long and it's difficult trying to make everything sound good so that it's something that we can be proud of.

What do you think you will present for your final presentation?
We are hopefully going to present the music video that we create, and it's likely that we're going to include some of the professional pictures that were taken as well.

So that's it for now. Bye. Till next time.

Blog Post #4

Okay so I was informed by a friend that there are actually prompts for this other than just giving updates so here they are:

For Blog #2: How is your project going to connect with your passion?
Music is something that I'm very passionate about and I'm excited to create a variety of things (an ep and a music video) correlated to music, as well as do a photo shoot. My friends and I in the band have always wanted to make our own music and this project is helping to push us to reach a goal of ours that we've had for awhile now.

What is most exciting?
As I stated in the previous question I'm excited to be able to create a variety of things. It's just the fact that we're finally getting around to do this since this has been something that we've been wanting to do,it;s so exciting. I'm really excited to see how everything turns out.

For Blog #3: What do you feel is most urgent to work on?
I would say it is definitely recording. It is something that it quite time consuming and considering the fact that we're not done with all the recording is stressing me out so much.

Write about someone else's project. What impressed you with their project?
I don't know a lot about other's people's projects. I am aware of a friend doing something art related and what impressed me is that she already had art pieces in mind since this is something that she is quite passionate about and she wants to work at it to be able to improve.

For Blog #4: What is the biggest thing you've learned in your Genius Project?
I've learned that recording is difficult and time consuming. Of course we want to make it so that the recording  is not poor we want to make it so that it's something that we can be proud of and that doesn't sound terrible.

What are you excited about sharing with your peers?
I'm excited to share the music we created with them. As well as the music video that we put together.

So that's it for now, till next time.... bye

Blog Entry #3

I referred to Gwen's 3rd blog entry to get a sense of what to write, so if there anything that's similar or literally the same that explains why. As of right now the band and I are trying to figure out what song to cover. So what we ended up doing was putting together a survey that consists of the songs that we wanted to cover. So far we have gotten responses from 24 different people. As of Friday, according to the plan were are going to figure out the song and as well as learn it. We are going to start recording this week, we were supposed to record next week but since I'm going to be in Disneyland during spring break  we have to do it earlier than expected. That means we are possibly going to have to release the song earlier than planned. It's beneficial for us since we will get an idea of who our audience is as well as who likes it.

Sometime next time month we are going to be doing a photo shoot because it's a really good way for the band to promote themselves. The thing is that everyone in the band dresses differently, if you took a really good look at how we all dresses then you wouldn't think that we all hung out together. As Gwen stated in her blog, "the problem with this is that we have to look like an actual group in the pictures, and a lot of what makes us to look like a group is what they wear. So we have to find cohesive looks that do not completely erase our individuality. I'm not really sure what were going to do so that our outfits are cohesive but I'm sure we'll all be able to figure out.

So I think that's about it. If there is anything that I have to add I'll add stuff to it. But other than that I'm pretty sure that's it. So far now that's it from me, till next time, bye.

Update: So we were supposed to work on recording the first song at practice but it wasn't really working out so we ended up not recording the song. I'm thinking we'll be able to start recording the song probably after this week. I am aware that we're going to work on songs during spring break even though I'm going to be gone a few days during that week. As well as we know what song we're going to cover, and that song is called Ain't It Fun by Paramore. So that's all as of right now.

This is the song that we're going to be covering:

Blog Entry #2

I'm not aware of any questions that were supposed to be answering regarding this second blog post so I'm just going to refer to my partner's blog posts to see what they put. So basically I'm trying to do vocal exercises to improve my voice since I'm the lead singer and I want to do my best to do what I can to improve my vocal range. My partners and I have been in a band for a couple years now but we haven't been able to really do anything because of the limited time that we have but now that we have this project it's going to make us really start to make progress.

The EP were writing is going to consist of 5 songs. Four original songs and one cover. As of right now we have two songs written and composed. We have two more we are still working on completing. The song that we want to cover is still undecided since one half of that band wants to cover a song called I Wanna Get Better by Bleachers while the other half doesn't want to.

In addition to the EP, we might do a photo shoot as well as a music video as part of our final product. I feel like by doing both of those we would build off from the knowledge on how it all works as well since we inexperienced on how to make our own music video. Overall that's our progress as of right now I'll keep you posted throughout the time that we work on this project.

Blog Entry #1

What are you excited about for the Genius project?

I'm excited about doing a project that will be beneficial for me, and that will be useful for the future since many of us are going to be doing jobs where we have to do our own projects individually. We get an opportunity to work with something that we're passion about and it's something is meaningful to us and so it makes it in a way easier because we're doing something that we're into and that we are hopeful that it will benefit others as well as ourselves. The reason for that is because we're getting a chance to learn about ourselves throughout the process of this project.

What are you wondering about for Genius Project?

I'm wondering about how my group and I are going to write more than one song, let alone a full songs. I've never written a song before and so that is going to be a challenge since writing a song it quite a process along with having to figure out a melody. I'm also wondering how we're going to figure out what message we want to send as well as what were going to write about for the song.

What ideas are most interesting to you right now?

The idea about writing songs intrigues me the most. The other idea that I was considering which was creating an article of clothing  from scratch since fashion is something I'm passionate about. As well as the other idea that I had which was learning about a different place's culture like for example France and then baking a popular dish from that place. To be more specific I was thinking of baking something opposed to cooking something because I like baking more than cooking.
